Our Curriculum
Learning at St Brigid’s
Learning at St Brigid’s is anchored in Te Mātaiaho | The New Zealand Curriculum and enriched by the values and teachings of Tā Tātou Whakapono | Our Faith Curriculum. We are committed to providing a high-quality, holistic education that supports every child to reach their full potential – academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally.
Strong literacy and numeracy programmes are embedded across the school through a collaborative, strengths-based approach. Our Local Curriculum places a special emphasis on using our unique environment and community resources to create meaningful, authentic learning experiences.
Science, Digital Technology, Tikanga and Te Reo Māori, alongside a balanced Arts and Languages curriculum, are integral to every child’s learning journey. This rich and varied education is underpinned by our Catholic Character and Religious Education Curriculum, fostering values of faith, compassion, and service.
We also offer a vibrant range of curricular and extra-curricular opportunities – including Kapa Haka, Kia Mau, Pasifika Group, Drama, Visual Art, Music, and Environmental initiatives – that empower every child to explore their interests and uncover their unique gifts. Student agency and decision-making are encouraged through Play-Based Learning (Tākaro te Ako), environmental groups, market days, science fairs, passion projects, school liturgies, and learning inspired by students’ own interests.
