Our Curriculum

St Brigid’s School provides a high quality education that has a holistic approach, supporting children to reach their full potential.

Strong literacy and numeracy programmes are in place across the school as a collaborative strengths based approach is taken. Our Local Curriculum has an emphasis on developing a diverse environmental programme using our local environment and resources to plan the learning around. We believe that it is vital for children to understand their role in ensuring that we live a sustainable, future-focused life. Science, Digital Technology, Tikanga and Te Reo Māori along with a balanced programme, including the Arts and Languages is delivered to all children. This is underpinned by our Catholic Character and Religious Education Curriculum.

It is important for children to have some agency and decision making in their learning and this is provided through Play Based Learning (Tākaro te Ako), environmental groups, market day, science fair, passion projects, school liturgies and learning generated by the high interests of children.

We believe that children need  to experience a wide range of other opportunities to develop their strengths and passions.
